Launch of the State of Global Education 2018

During Roundtable 39 on 5 October 2018, GENE launched the third edition of its publication The State of Global Education in Europe. The launch took place at the European Commission’s events venue Info Point, and was attended by GENE Roundtable participants as well as local organisations and members of the public. Ms. Chiara Adamo, Head of Unit B.1, DG DEVCO, introduced the session. Ms. Jo McAuley from the GENE Secretariat highlighted the main findings of the report, and then followed a panel discussion moderated by GENE Chair Mr. Liam Wegimont. The panel focused on the role of Global Education in the current political climate in Europe. The panellists were: Professor Douglas Bourn, Development Education Research Centre, UCL, London; Ms. Francesca Minniti, Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, CONCORD; and Ms. Anamarija Viček, Secretary of State for Education, Republic of Serbia. The event was live streamed on the European Commission’s website. The State of Global Education in Europe 2018 can be downloaded from the publications section on the GENE website.
