Roundtable 39 – Brussels, Belgium
Autumn 2018 Roundtable was opened with a welcoming comment from the chair of GENE, Liam Wegimont and Ms Mara Coppens from the Belgium Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. Ms Chiara Adamo, Head of Unit, DevCo B.1, Gender Equality, Human Rights and Democratic Governance stressed the importance of GE for creating spaces for exchange and mutual learning.
Presentations on Global Education in the Republic of Korea was made by a representative of UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) and a representative of Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA).
A report from the EU was presented by EC/DEVCO focused on: EC programme (MTR -Mid Term Review 2014-17; MIP –Multi Annual Indicative Programme 2018-2020; and MAAP –Multi Annual Action Programme 2018-2020); Ongoing Call for proposals; New Eurobarometer.
Three Roundtable workshops reflected on: Integration of Global Education into development and foreign policy; Global Education and education for the prevention of violence and extremism; Global Education policy and research on Global Education.
Roundtable featured the launch of the 2018 edition of The State of Global Education in Europe, a panel on policy learning, as well as the Award Ceremony for the 2018 Global Education Innovation Award.
