ANGEL 2020 Early Career Researchers’ Conference: Conceptualisations of Global Education and Learning
The ANGEL Early Career Researchers Conference was held online on 11-12 June 2020 and was hosted by the University of Oulu, Finland. The aim was to provide early-career researchers with an inspiring platform for discussing, re-visiting and analysing the complexity of conceptualisations in Global Education. It was especially directed at early career researchers (PhD students and post-doctoral) but academics, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners were also welcomed.
The conference was organised by the University of Oulu within the framework of ANGEL (The Academic Network of Global Education and Learning) with the collaboration of GENE, The Development Education Research Centre (DERC), Institute of Education, University College (London, UK), and Otto-Friedrich Universitat Bamberg (Germany). This was the second biannual conference of this sort organised by ANGEL. You can read about the previous event of this kind and listen to interviews with researchers here.
Academic Network on Global Education Learning (ANGEL)
GENE has since its inception collaborated with researchers and research institutions to create links between policy and research. With support from the European Commission, this has developed into the establishment of a pan-European network of GE and DEAR researchers through co-operation with existing and emerging academic networks in the field. ANGEL brings together existing Finnish, German-speaking (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) and UK-based networks and linking them to emerging networks in other countries in Europe. GENE is collaborating with the Development Education Research Centre at the Institute of Education (IoE) on this initiative. The Network was launched at a conference at the IoE in May 2017 that brought together academics from the Global Education community in May 2017.
Further details about the network and information on how to apply can be obtained from Prof. Massimilano Tarozzi at the Development Education Research Centre, GENE’s implementing partner in this project. Contact: m.tarozzi [at] ucl.ac.uk
